Chicago Dental Sleep Medicine: Curing Snoring And Sleep Apnea Without CPAP

Snoring and sleep apnea are both dangerous and common.  While snoring is frequently considered funny it is the chief warning sign of sleep apnea.  Studies have also shown that heavy snorers can have a 6-10 fold increase in carotid atherosclerosis even when sleep apnea is not present.

The advantages of an oral appliance compared to CPAP is comfort and convenience.  Patients appreciate not having a mask, hose and compressor all night long.  I am currently working with American Sleep Medicine in Skokie  offering patients comfortable alternatives to CPAP.  American Sleep Medicine is an oral appliance friendly sleep center.  They welcome referrals from dentists who utilize oral appliances and understand how to titrate oral appliances.

The success of an oral appliance requires a team effort of the patient, the dentist, the sleep physician and the sleep lab.  American Sleep Medicine is striving to be a leader not just in sleep medicine but also in Dental Sleep Medicine.
